Magento V/S WordPress

magento v/s ecommerce

Out of 37 eCommerce platforms available, usually there is always a sense of   selectivity among the various IT companies   working for eCommerce applications. All these 37 platforms in some or the other way usually differ in their functionality. Usually at the start up of a company , platforms having less features are selected first and when the company grows gradually the platform having more features are selected in order to satisfy the requirements and to offer more customization.

In the present scenario there is always an everlasting battle in two eCommerce platforms .That is Wordpress and Magento.

Now a day, Large scale companies are switching on Magento because of a large array of features which include:

1.) Easy Customization: - Magento allows a high degree of front and back end customization allowing for great branding and service.

2.) Multi tenant: - Magento allows for you to have one backend Customer Management System (CMS) with multiple storefronts.

3.) Integration: - With Magento it is easy to integrate with lots of third-party services that are necessary to run an effective web store.

4.) SEO Friendly: - Magento comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) features to help you hit search engine land running.

5.) Custom Modules: - Magento allows custom modules to be added to the framework without interfering with the source code.

Unlike Large Scale companies, Small scale companies usually prefer Wordpress which have following features:

1.)    New Options for Multisite Users: - Here upload limit is increased from 10 MB to 100 MB.

2.)    Admin Bar Scrolls to Top: - is by clicking in the empty space on the admin bar one can scroll to top.

3.)    Improved Touch Support: - It had made accessing of Wordpress dashboards easier on mobile devices.

4.)    Support for Child Themes: - for installing child theme there is no need to install parent theme, Wordpress will automatically do it for you.

5.)    Shorthand URLs for Login, Admin, and Dashboard:- Instead of using /wp-login/wp-admin we can use shorthands /login, and /admin.

Now, focusing on the similarities between Magento and Wordpress:-

1.) They are both Open Source platforms – they are both free.

2.) They both are having ability to integrate blogging into their functionality.

3.) They both are available to easily add products.

4.) In order to design and personalize the look of your website they both are having the ability of using themes.

5.) They both are Amazon certified.

Hence from the above similarities we can easily conclude that both Wordpress and Magento share some common functionality , but still there is something unique about Magento which is as follows:-

1.) Magento is able to grow and adding new features and functionality at a much faster rate than the WP e-Commerce plugin.

2.) Magento is an object-oriented modern application that is much more user-friendly.

Other than the above points Magento has partnered with ifeelgoods which is a service which offers brands and retailers the ability to offer digital goods such as Facebook Credits or Skype minutes as incentives for consumer action including purchases , registrations and social media engagements .

Hence last but not the least, it can be easily concluded that Magento must be preferred over Wordpress because of its ability of growing as fastest growing e-commerce platform.
